Where We Work

In the cactus-covered hills of central Mexico lies the sleepy little town of Villa Garcia, Zacatecas.  Many of the people there live in poverty, but at first glance, it sometimes doesn’t feel that way. Bright colors accentuate many of the homes and stores.  Lively music plays in the streets, and the people are friendly and welcoming.

Yet, upon entering many of the homes the cooking is done over open fires without the use of a stove.  Dirt floors are common, and sometimes the homes are without electricity, running water, and bathrooms.  You don’t have to dig too deep to find the poverty.  Our work is focused here in Villa Garcia, and in the surrounding areas.
